Content Marketing, Haunted Houses, and Drawing

A busy week I can barely think back to.

I was awake for 22 hours straight this weekend.

This is a sacrifice I was willing to make for one thing, and one thing only: Halloween. (In this case, Scarywood.)

Honestly, I was a little underwhelmed. My main complaint was that they had the same haunted houses as last year. Also, they went a little overboard with the smoke machines, and my throat and eyes are still suffering the consequences. Other than that, it was a blast to see the elaborate decorations and get to go on a few theme park rides. The scarers walking around the park in extravagant costumes were definitely a highlight for me.

All fun aside, the whole day was long and felt a little never-ending. I woke up at 3:00 a.m. and finally fell asleep at 1:00 a.m. the next day.

I still feel a little out-of-wack.

Work

Adding to my exhausting week: I worked a 10 hour shift, which technically isn’t even allowed at my store. I still pulled it off. I worked a 4:30 to 1:00 shift, and then stayed until 2:30 to finish a chalk sign. I still have two signs to finish, but I was pretty happy to get at least one done.

I plan to finish the other ones later this week.

Also at work, a regular customer at our store is trying to get a mural painted at her work, and apparently I am being considered as an artist to request. I found this out today, and I was pretty excited! It would be a fun opportunity. I am not sure if it would be paid or not, but it would be good for my portfolio regardless.

I also am working at my Christmas ornament project and I am going to start listing designs ASAP! My Etsy shop is still a little sparse, but that brings me to the next part of my week.

Praxis

Content marketing!

The module that I picked to cover next. I’m pumped. I chose to use my own business as my guinea pig for the next few weeks. I decided to do it this way because I am hoping to see some legitimate results of actually marketing my project.

Jude Peters Design is the name that I have used for all of my projects in the last few years from Website Design to custom paintings (with the exception of my holiday bake sale).

In the case of this module, I am choosing to focus on what I can list on my Etsy shop: stickers and ornaments. My Instagram is still pretty lacking at the moment, as I only started it recently, but I do plan to up the intensity a little bit.

Also, I found out this weekend that the hours at my work will be cut in January, so I am trying to build up savings in the meantime. This means working really, really hard at my side hustles.

Looking Into Next Week

I have a lot of plans for this next week, that mostly include staying efficient.

I am planning to keep working on my projects for winter, (maybe) DoorDash a little bit for some extra cash, and keep working through the next phase of Praxis. I also want to start working on flyers for potentially bringing back my holiday macaron shop, which was a huge success last year. People really love cookies.

Until next week!
