A brief complaint about the weather this year.

I am living in North Idaho.
I expect consistent winter. This year, it has gone like this:
Snow, melt, freeze, repeat.
First of all: I like driving in the snow more than the ice. This is because it is less deadly. If the snow would just stay, the black ice on the road would be less of an issue.
Secondly: I feel like I am bracing for the “big one,” as the locals call it. The snow that doesn’t go away. It just sticks around for the rest of winter.
Thirdly: This is my third winter and the first time I can see concrete in December. Admittedly, it is icy, slick and frozen concrete. But still. It’s principle.
I know it’s contradictory. My commute is long and ridiculous when it’s snowing. I’m taking 45 to 50 minutes. This is still true when it’s icy. I would at least like it to look like it takes as long as it does.
Other complaints: one of my dogs is crazy about the snow. I feel bad for him because I know that he’s sad it keeps melting.
(His name is Charlie. He is actually very happy in general. Sad is a rare emotion.)
